Structures & Composites Center, University of Maine

Established by the National Science Foundation in 1996, the Center is a world leader in the development of cost-effective, high performance hybrid composite materials for construction applications.  The Center has successfully conducted major R&D programs for the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Federal Highway Administration, and Departments of Agriculture and Homeland Security.  Current research initiatives include cutting-edge technology development of an Offshore Wind Laboratory which will design, manufacture, and test structural components for deepwater offshore wind structures.

1:30 -- 2:30 p.m.      (Optional and as you are able) Tour of the Advanced Structures and Composites Center.  Note:  The Center can be warm in summer so please dress casuallyAlso, no open-toes shoes.  Walking distance from Wells, approx. 3/8 of a mile.  See map on reverse.
